More iPhone Casino Games Apps Launching Soon

The iPhone gaming market is growing!

You the players have spoken and we here at JackpotCity.com have listened. Over the past 2 years the Apple iPhone has become more and more popular as a form of mobile entertainment. In fact, between 2008 and 2009 Apple’s overall share of video game software sales climbed from one percent to five percent, an impressive 500 percent growth rate for the year (see chart Below).



The general portable market, which includes the Nintendo DS and PSP as well as other mobile gaming platforms like cellular devices, grew by five percentage points as well, taking 24 percent of the market in 2009. The home console market, by comparison, dropped to just 71 percent. The numbers seem to indicate a growing portable market, of which Apple is currently taking the lion’s share. This is clear proof that you the mobile gamer (and yes that does include iPhone casino players) want more gaming content to keep you entertained on a daily basis.

Apple’s iPhone Gaming, the way forward

The iPhone is making great gains on its strongest competitors in portable gaming, the Nintendo DS and the PlayStation Portable. Where the iPhone accounted for only five percent of the revenue share of the three platforms in 2008, in 2009 it took 19 percent. That means that it has overtaken the PSP, which fell from a strong 20 percent gaming market share to an 11 percent gaming market share year over year. The DS however, stayed strong at 70 percent in 2009, but that still was a fall of 5 percent from where they were in 2008.
