More Alternative Casino Card Games
The list of Alternative Casino Card Games that I posted a few days ago has, in a very short period of time, received plenty of interest. Because of this (and a few queries asked of our help desk), I have decided to post another 5 little known but really fun Alternative Card Games. So without further ado, here are the next five great card games:
Blackjack Switch
Blackjack Switch is a variant of Blackjack that gives you the option of switching cards. You start with two card hands instead of one in Switch Blackjack and after the cards are dealt you have the option to flip your tow top cards (helping to create opportunities to double down or split hands). When you make the decision to switch or not, you then play the game as you would normal Blackjack.
Two important things to remember when playing Switch Blackjack:
• In Switch Blackjack a Blackjack hand only pays 1-to-1 • The dealer does not bust on 22, it is simply a push
Pai Gow
Pai Gow is the quintessential social casino game. This is because you don’t need much money to play it and you can help (and be helped) by other players at the table. You begin playing Pai Gow by making a single bet. After this bet you are dealt seven cards face up and the dealer receives seven cards face down. You then need to arrange your seven cards into the two best possible hands you can – five cards in the one hand and two in the other. The only requirement with these two hands is that the five-card hand must be better than the two-card hand. Both hands need to beat the dealer for a win and if you and the dealer split, the bet is a push.
Casino War
Casino War is simply an adult version of the kids “War” or “Trumps” card game where the strongest card wins. To start playing you need to place an ante before you are dealt a card face up, while the dealer does the same. The person with the highest card then wins the cash. If there is a tie then you can fold or place another bet (your choice). If you choose to place another bet you go to “war”. This is where the game of Casino War comes into its own and differs from “Trumps”. “War” consists of three cards being dealt to both you and the dealer. You both then receive another card face up. The high card then wins. Please note that if the dealer wins, he gets both the ante and the so-called “war bet”. If you win, you only get the ante. You can however reclaim the “war bet” you made with a win. Learn more about Casino War.
Caribbean Stud
Caribbean Stud Poker is one of the very few versions of poker that is played against the house instead of the dealer or other players at the table. To start playing you need to place an ante bet and an optional Progressive bet. You are then dealt five cards face up and the dealer deals himself four cards face down and one face up. You now have the option to fold or bet twice the ant. The dealer cannot win unless he/she is holding a minimum of Ace-King. If the dealer does not qualify, and you stay in, the ante bet is automatically paid off at even money. If you have places a second bet it is returned to you. If the dealer has a qualifying hand that beats you, the house wins all the money. If you beat a qualifying hand you’ll be paid out according to the pay table. These payouts range from 1:1 (for a high card) to 100:1 (on a Royal Flush).
Baccarat
Baccarat is one of the world’s most famous Card Games, but is not played as often as it was 50 years ago. Why its popularity has waned is a mystery to us here at JackpotCity.com, because it is one of the most elegant and intriguing casino games one can play. The objective of Baccarat is to predict which of the two hands (the banker or players hand) will be closer to having a value of 9. The player always competes against the banker. To start playing wagers are placed in the Tie, Banker and Player areas indicated on the Baccarat table. Two hands of cards are then dealt, one for you the player and one for the banker. Each hand always contains either two or three cards. The winning hand will always be the one whose value is closet in total to nine.
This is the second article in our new “alternative games series”. This series has been created to highlight alternative casino games that many players are not familiar with. Not all of these games are available in every online casino, but this list will still be useful for teaching new players just how many Online Casino games there are available to play.
